  2. Lone Survivor is a gripping and powerful true story written by Marcus Luttrell, a former United States Navy SEAL. Published in 2007, the book recounts Luttrell's harrowing experience as the only survivor of a covert military operation in Afghanistan called Operation Red Wings.
