Nearly 25 years after the original Kingpin hit theaters, Peter and Bobby Farrelly are developing a follow-up to their bowling comedy. A sequel to Kingpin is in active development at Village Roadshow Pictures, with both Farrelly brothers attached to produce, per Collider.
No script has been written yet, meaning that there are no details available about the plot, setting, or even the characters involved in the sequel. Notably, the Farrelly brothers did not write the original Kingpin. Whether Harrelson, Quaid, Angel, or Murray would return for the follow-up remains to be seen.
Peter and Bobby Farrelly made another comedy sequel to one of their first films in 2014 with Dumb and Dumber To. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels both reprised their roles from the 1994 original.
Kingpin grossed a modest $32.2 million at the box office during its 1996 theatrical run. The comedy had a reported $25 million budget. However, Kingpin enjoyed a successful second life on home video and has garnered a passionate fan base over the years, becoming one of the Farrelly brothers' most well-regarded movies.
