Feb 7, 2009 · HARTFORD, Conn. — Xiangzhong “Jerry” Yang, a stem cell scientist who successfully cloned the first farm animal in the United States, has died after a long battle with cancer. He was 49.
Dr. Jerry Yang is an internal medicine specialist who provides comprehensive care to adults with chronic diseases. He also performs minor outpatient procedures. Yang believes in developing collaborative relationships with his patients, emphasizing patient engagement and physician advocacy.
Yang is currently an Associate Professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, where much of his lab work focuses on the development of small molecules that can aid in the diagnosis, prevention, and intervention of a wide range of human diseases.
