Feb 20, 2022 · A traditional school that's disciplinarian in approach. Quite high numbers of ND boys and they have a special unit that provides support. SGS we found (based on application process) more rounded, not especially elite at anything in my experience but a nice nurturing environment.

Manchester Grammar School rating: 4/5 by University of Oxford student. MGS ( Manchester Grammar School ) is strong all round, but historically has been known for its very good languages department. In most years, the number of boys getting Oxbridge offers from arts/sciences side is quite even.

From September 2021, we will follow AQA GCSE English Language 8700 and English Literature 8702. We are fortunate to be able to offer two post-16 courses within the Department: OCR A Level English Language H470, and Pre-U English Literature 9765. Boys are able to take both courses if they wish.
