Jul 6, 2018 · How to DIY a built-in entertainment center with shiplap 1. Assemble the kitchen cabinets. The first step was to build IKEA cabinetry per IKEA instructions. Then, I put them in place and added trim to sides and tops to give it that built-in look. For the sides, I bought some primed 1x4s and cut them to fit. Attached them with L-brackets.

Jan 25, 2020 · How we built a base for wall kitchen cabinets so we could use them as storage and the TV stand for our built-in entertainment center.

- 1. Remove the molding where the base cabinets are going.
- 2. Calculate the measurements using the pro doweling kit.
- 3. For the front base, cut a slanted edge on two boards and combine the two.
- 4. Install the cabinets into each other and the wall.
- 5. Measure and cut a spot out for the outlets.
- 6. Cut a hole in the top of the cabinet and the countertop to run cords through for the electronics.
- 7. Screw the cabinets together and mount on the base.
- Create the base & ATTACH WALL CABINETS. The base was constructed using 1″x6″ boards because I wanted the cabinet bases to be raised 6 inches off the ground.
- Attach tops to the wall cabinets. Next, you’ll want to create 3 separate tops to attach on top of your cabinets to serve as the base for your built-in bookshelves (the top structures).
- construct 3 upper sections & secure cabinets to wall. Honestly, this is the part that seemed so darn scary and overwhelming to me. I’ve never attempted to create built-in shelves before, but our new Kreg Jig made this ridiculously easy.
- trim it out. My husband would tell you that adding the trim to this massive unit was easily the longest part of the project. Baseboards were attached to the bottom of the platform base.
