For the LORD will pass through the land to strike down the Egyptians. But when he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, the LORD will pass over your home. He will not permit his death angel to enter your house and strike you down. English Standard Version
His angel that brings death will pass over and not kill your first-born sons. The angel of death would not enter that home but would Pass-Over. God gave detailed instructions on how to select, slaughter, and prepare the lambs for the Passover meal. The people also received instructions on how they were to eat it and what garments they were to wear as they partook of the Passover meal.
