Meriden (/ ˈ m ɛər ə d ɪ n / MAIR-ə-din) is a city in New Haven County, Connecticut, United States, located halfway between the regional cities of New Haven and Hartford. The city is part of the South Central Connecticut Planning Region .
- Hubbard Park. Walter Hubbard, the president of Meriden’s Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Company, donated most of the land for this glorious park at the turn of the 20th century.
- Castle Craig. Walter Hubbard, who plowed hundreds of thousands of dollars into beautifying Hubbard Park also donated this romantic observation tower. It’s posted high atop East Peak, 970+ feet above sea level.
- Metacomet Trail. Adventure is always on the cards in Meriden, where you can get onto two celebrated Blue-Blazed walking trails. The town is near the southern trailhead of the 62.7-mile Metacomet Trail, shooting north to Suffield via Hubbard Park and traversing a big portion of the narrow fault-block, Metacomet Ridge.
- Mattabesett Trail. If one long-distance trail isn’t enough, the 62-mile Mattabesett Trail runs through Meriden. On its horseshoe-shaped route through New Haven County, the trail takes in state forest, municipal parks and land trust preserves.

In the 1600s and 1700s Meriden was a rural or suburban sector of the town of Wallingford. Situated halfway between the Connecticut Colony on the north (Hartford - Wethersfield) and the New Haven Colony on the south, it became a stopping place for colonists who traveled by horse or by foot.

Meriden, in New Haven County, is located in south-central Connecticut, with the Quinnipiac River cutting through its southwestern portion. Formerly known as North Farms, the area was incorporated as a town from parts of Wallingford in 1806, and became a city in 1867.
