Patrick M. Gallivan (born November 18, 1960) [1] is a member of the New York State Senate and the former Sheriff of Erie County. Gallivan's district, the 59th, comprises portions of Erie County, the entirety of Wyoming County, the northern half of Livingston County and the towns of Henrietta and Wheatland in Monroe County. [2]
Senator Gallivan has defended the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens, was successful in legalizing the use of crossbows during archery season in NYS and is a strong backer of sportsmen and women.

Prior to representing the citizens of Western New York in the Senate, Patrick Gallivan was twice-elected Sheriff of Erie County, serving as upstate New York’s most populous county’s chief law enforcement official from 1998 through 2005.
Senator Patrick M. Gallivan represents the 59th Senate District, which includes all or portions of Erie, Wyoming, Livingston and Monroe counties. He was first elected to the Senate in November 2010 and overwhelmingly re-elected in 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.
