Istoric. Cuviosul Onufrie, ctitor al mănăstirii. Potrivit tradiției, prin anul 1600, în pădurea aflată la o distanță de 2 km de satul Vorona, s-au așezat câțiva călugări ruși care au ridicat o bisericuță de lemn și au ctitorit Mănăstirea Vorona. [1]

Istoria Mănăstirii Vorona. Denumirea mănăstirii vine de la pârâul Vorona, consemnat într-o carte domnească din 16 noiembrie 1433. La începutul secolului XVII, câţiva călugări au ridicat o bisericuţă din lemn cu hramul Naşterea Prea Sfintei Născătoare de Dumnezeu.
