I think he's not at all a failed DP, and I'm not sure how one can argue that his stats are bad. Consider this: Luciano Acosta is considered frontrunner for MVP this season, and he currently averages 1 goal contribution every 89.7 minutes; Martin Ojeda averages 1 goal contribution every 90.5 minutes.
