GE Dishwasher No Power and Won’t Start. It’s challenging to know what to do next when your GE Dishwasher won’t start. If no lights on your machine are working or making any sound, follow these steps to get to the root of this problem.
It can be very frustrating to have a dishwasher full of dirty dishes and the appliance will not start. If the display or buttons are not lighting and the dishwasher is non-responsive, your dishwasher may not have power to it. There are a few things you can do to try to resolve this issue.

- Check the Power Source. The first step is always the simplest. Make sure your dishwasher is plugged in securely to a functioning power outlet. Sometimes, a loose connection is all that’s causing the problem.
- Circuit Breaker Inspection. Head to your electrical panel and check if the circuit breaker that controls the dishwasher is in the ‘ON’ position. If it’s tripped, reset it and see if that solves the issue.
- GFCI Outlet Test. In some cases, the power outlet connected to your dishwasher may be a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet. Push the reset button on the GFCI outlet to ensure it hasn’t tripped.
- Door Latch Inspection. Most dishwashers are equipped with a safety feature that prevents them from running with an open door. Ensure that the dishwasher door is fully closed and latched securely.
