Slide the stripped end of your jumper wire through the hole, and screw the post back down until the wire is firmly connected. Typically, you only need to connect a power and ground wire from the posts to the breadboard. If you need an alternate power source, you can use the third post.
A polarized component -- a part with polarity -- can only be connected to a circuit in one direction. A polarized component might have two, twenty, or even two-hundred pins, and each one has a unique function and/or position. If a polarized component was connected to a circuit incorrectly, at best it won't work as intended.
Jan 18, 2023 · Best Wire Thickness to Use on a Breadboard. Not all wires work well with breadboards. In my experience, the best wires to use are 22 or 23 AWG single-strand wires. Single-strand means the wire has one solid core inside (as opposed to lots of tiny wires wrapped together). AWG stands for American Wire Gauge. And 22 AWG means a diameter of 0.65 mm.
Locate the 100µF electrolytic capacitor. Unlike resistors, this particular part is polarized so care must be taken to ensure proper orientation when placing it on the breadboard. Most radial electrolytic capacitors will have a white strip with negative symbols running along the length of the can to indicate the negative lead.
