I am looking to buy a combination microwave oven but am unsure of the space needed for ventilation. I will have a gap of about 20cm above only 9cm at the back and a metre either side. Does anyone here know if that will be enough for safety purposes.
May 13, 2020 · How much worktop space do you have? The bigger microwave you need, the more space it will take up on your worktop. This won't be an issue if you have a roomier kitchen, but anyone tight on space will need to check that their chosen model isn't too large.

Jun 3, 2024 · All microwaves need some clearance space around them to allow air to ventilate, but the amount needed varies. So consider where yours will be placed and check this before you buy. Half of those we’ve tested need at least 30cm above them, but we’ve found plenty that only need between 10cm and 20cm.
Most of the microwaves require around at least 3 inches all around, leave three inches of space between the walls and the top, sides, and rear of the microwave oven. But for this one if you can have at least 8 inches all around for safety reasons, and especially from the top since heat rises, will be great!
Only above oven (built-in microwaves can be installed in a confined area). So, We decided to get a counter top microwave since the space available in the cabinet is too small for a built-in one. Microwaves should last a minimum of 10 years or more, not 6. And yes, a dedicated circuit is a must.
