Plot. The Enterprise is ordered on a priority mission to collect a member of Starfleet Intelligence: Admiral Erik Pressman (Terry O'Quinn), former Captain of the USS Pegasus, where Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes) first served after graduating from Starfleet Academy.
(Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion, 3rd ed., p. 278) This episode is foreshadowed, albeit unintentionally, by the events of "The Next Phase" in which the Romulans are also developing a cloaking device which can phase through matter.
