May 3, 2024 · Stormy was released in 1968 and was a major success for Classics IV, reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song was written by the band’s guitarist James Cobb and producer Buddy Buie. Interestingly, the initial inspiration for Stormy came from a thunderstorm.
