Jun 21, 2002 · At a time when movies think they have to choose between action and ideas, Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" is a triumph--a film that works on our minds and our emotions. It is a thriller and a human story, a movie of ideas that's also a whodunit.
So I just watched Minority Report for the first time in a few years. The core of the movie is about free will vs determinism, but Spielberg does a great job of packing in a few other themes alongside it, as well as some cracking action.
Tightly plotted, heart-racingly paced and expertly conceived, Minority Report is a study of surveillance and free will that gets darker and darker until it becomes a murky reflection of a world still recognisable several years on.
