  1. Dec 11, 2017 · Binoculars need lens hoods to prevent ambient glare from entering the objectives. Also, at my dewy observing sites, absence of lens hoods would mean dew on the objectives within an hour or less. As soon as I acquire lens hoods for the 18x50's, they will no longer fit in the soft Canon case.

  2. May 29, 2014 · Polarizing binoculars (filter attached) and eyestrain. Anyone have experience with polarizing both objectives on their binocuclars with rotating filters? I am finding it a little bit straining since a collimation issue arises when the filters are out of alignment.

  3. Apr 18, 2024 · The Canon 12x36 focus by moving the objective lenses inside of the plastic body cover. Attaching anything there risks problems with the thin/plastic cover and focus (especially if it stays attached and exercises pressure while focussing).

  4. Nov 28, 2005 · For the objective lens covers, it probably just makes sense to get the Canon 58mm lens covers (search on Amazon for "Canon 58mm snap" and they'll instantly pop up). I bought them for my 18x50's (they're on sale now: $6.59 for the pair).
