John Tatham was born at Burton-in-Lonsdale, of a land-owning family. His interest in medicine was aroused when as a boy he was accommodated in a doctor’s house after an injury, and on leaving Rossall he was apprenticed to a doctor and in due course entered the Middlesex Hospital as a student.

John Romano (November 20, 1908 - June 19, 1994) was an American physician, psychiatrist, and educator whose major interest was in medical education and the important relationship between psychiatry and medicine. [1] [2] He founded the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Rochester and served as chairman from 1946 to 1971. [3]
