Charles Herbert Best CC, CH, CBE, FRS, FRSC, FRCP (February 27, 1899 – March 31, 1978), was an American-Canadian medical scientist and one of the co-discoverers of insulin with Frederick Banting.
Charles Herbert Best was an American-Canadian medical scientist and physiologist who along with Canadian medical scientist and physician Sir Frederick Banting co-discovered insulin and the technique of applying it to treat diabetes.
Charles H. Best was a physiologist who, with Sir Frederick Banting, was one of the first to obtain (1921) a pancreatic extract of insulin in a form that controlled diabetes in dogs. The successful use of insulin in treating human patients followed.
