Dead Cert is a 1974 British crime thriller film directed by Tony Richardson. It is an adaptation of the 1962 novel of the same name by Dick Francis . [1] It was directed by Tony Richardson with a script co-written by ex jockey and Daily Telegraph racing correspondent (Lord) John Oaksey , who was also technical advisor and a riding double in the film.
Synopsis. A gang of tough London gangsters get more than they bargained for when a group of businessmen make an offer to buy their club, the Inferno. They turn out to be nothing less than Vampires wanting their land back and turn viciously on the gangsters when their demands are not met.

As a surprise, two horse owners decide to ride their animals in a steeplechase. But Bill Davidson's (Ian Hogg's) horse "Admiral" behaves weirdly, and falls hard after an obstacle. Bill dies from his injuries. His friend Alan York (Scott Antony) suspects the animal was doped by unscrupulous bookies and starts to investigate.
