   To me, the most interesting thing about Chained is the fact that a Hollywood film that resolves itself through divorce was released in August 1934, the month after the stringent Production Code started to be enforced. In her biography of director Clarence Brown, Gwenda Young indicates that Chained was produced in May and June of 1934.
