Die Konsequenz (The Consequence) is a 1977 West German made for television film directed by Wolfgang Petersen. The screenplay is an adaptation of the 1975 autobiographical novel of the same name by Alexander Ziegler. The film premiered on ARD on 8 November 1977.

An actor is put in prison for having had an affair with a 15 year-old boy and, while in the clink, captures the attention of the warden's handsome young son, with whom he begins a lengthy love affair that is thwarted by a society determined to degrade them.
Filmed in 1977, this is the first film by out director Wolfgang Petersen. Yes, this is the same Petersen who earned international fame with the submarine epic, Das Boot, in 1981 and went on to direct such Hollywood blockbusters as In The Line Of Fire, The Perfect Storm and Troy.
