    Early Beginnings

    William Denby "Bill" Hanna and Joseph Roland "Joe" Barbera began their partnership when they first met at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1937. Having previous experience in the animation industry since the early 1930s, they worked at MGM's animation department and solidified themselves as workmates for the next six decades.     In 1987, Taft Broadcasting changed its name to Great American Broadcasting (or Great American Communications).
