The Robert Simpson Company Limited, commonly known as Simpson's until 1972, then as Simpsons, and in Quebec sometimes as Simpson, was a Canadian department store chain that had its earliest roots in a store opened in 1858 by Robert Simpson.
Here in 1894 Simpson built a six-storey department store, designed by Edmund Burke (1857-1919), which was destroyed by fire shortly after occupancy. A new building by the same architect opened in January 1896, and was the first "fireproofed" store in Canada.

Simpsons of Piccadilly was a large retail store situated at 203–206 Piccadilly in central London, England. It was created by Alexander Simpson and the architect Joseph Emberton. When it opened in April 1936, it was the largest menswear store in Britain, and is now a Grade I listed building due to its innovative construction.

Originally averse to the idea of running a "department store," Simpsons eventually added shoe and specialty food departments and a mail order business.
