Peter Gardner Ostrum (/ ˈ oʊ s t r ə m / OH-strəm; born November 1, 1957) is an American retired veterinarian and former child actor, whose only film role was as Charlie Bucket in the 1971 motion picture Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.
Peter Ostrum is best known for playing Charlie Bucket in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971). He also appeared in Sicko (2007) and Remembering Gene Wilder (2023). He is a veterinarian and a Cornell University graduate.
