Oct 6, 2008 · It's brisk and glib without sounding too HIP; modern instruments and strings with vibrato prevail. We're familiar with this style from the Beethoven cycles issued by Rattle, Abbado, Vanska, and Haitink. Nagano doesn't add to the pile or subtract form it.
