Alphonse Boudard (17 December 1925 – 14 January 2000) was a French novelist and playwright. He won the 1977 Prix Renaudot for Les Combattants du petit bonheur . Boudard's 1995 novel Dying childhood was awarded and recognised by the French Academy with a Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française .

Alphonse Boudard. At first he was an apprentice in an iron casting works. During the Occupation, he joined the underground movement to fight against the nazi invaders. However he worked illegally making counterfeit money, and became an expert in safebreaking using a blowlamp. This "activity" lead to his imprisonment (1945-1949 and 1957-1961).
