For me reclaiming joy starts with surrender — surrendering to pain, fear, anger, whatever. Every time I surrender the most amazing thing happens. I’ve worked in fundraising, helping to raise $700 million for non-profits. At various times, I’ve dabbled in politics, working on progressive campaigns. I’ve even committed activism, working to expand equality for LGBTQ+ people. My bachelor’s degree (1975) and master’s degree (1985) in journalism were earned at Michigan State University.
