The Astronauts reunited temporarily to perform in Boulder, Colorado, in 1974, 1988 and 1989. Later years. A four-CD box set of the group's recordings, The Complete Astronauts Collection, was issued on the Collectables label in 1997. Dennis Lindsey died in Boulder, Colorado, on May 4, 1992. Mark Bretz died August 15, 1999, aged 54.

Completed after he had passed away, this album is a fitting tribute to a man defined by his decades of music and poetry writes Nathan Brown. The Astronauts deserve the cult band moniker. They were definitely their own beast.
Real Name: The Astronauts. Profile: Surf group from Boulder, Colorado. Formed in 1960 as the Stormtroopers and signed to the RCA label a few years later in an effort to compete with the success of the Beach Boys. The group experienced modest and brief success, until the arrival of the Beatles in the U.S. led to their decline in popularity.

These guys who have reproduced them in a boxed set have done a good job at selection. But the CD quality is POOR. A song simply stops in mid-stream and goes to the next track. It is irritating. If you love the Astronauts as I do, you'll put up with the glitches. If you're a perfectionist, don't buy these reproductions.
