The eras of the game are commonly defined as follows: AS1: 2005-2007 AS2: 2008-2012 AS3: 2013-2017. AS1 doesn't really have any servers for it, but AS2 will work for most people in that case. If you prefer AS2, you'll enjoy CPJourney. It has the usual private server things, such as custom items, rooms, puffles, etc.
