When a discretionary whistle is needed to start play, the referee should clearly announce to the players that the restart may not occur until after that signal. Mar 24, 2022 · If the referee allows the player to take the free kick quickly, the player does not need to wait for the whistle to be blown. However, you are required to receive permission from the referee, before you can take such a free kick!
