IF I am not mistaken, it sounds to me that Plaza’s character is possibly an allusion to the Emerald Warlock in Wanda’s comic solo, the Witches Road (2016), but gender bent. Instead of being Wanda’s magical nemesis, they’ve repurposed Plaza’s green witch to be Agatha’s rival/ex-lover to grant the crone (in the comics that is) more depth to the character.

Aubrey Plaza is clearly a fantastic drama actor with both White Lotus and the recent movie Emily the Criminal. She needs more action scenes as she can be a badass and shes hot AF. Emily is a decent late night movie that entertains and, while maybe a bit predictable, I do love seeing a girl pushing herself to kick some ass and stand up for herself.
