If you don't have active fibre service from Telus, you will need to subscribe before you can use it. A router is typically provided with the fibre service which is where the wifi would come from.

Mar 27, 2015 · The Alcatel-Lucent device is the Optical Network Terminal or ONT, and converts the fibre optic signal to Ethernet, which then goes to your gateway / router. The issues you see are between the gateway and the device, so mucking with the ONT won't fix anything; it does not have a Wi-Fi radio.
May 21, 2021 · Telus fibre comes through an outside wall into my main floor living room (front of house) where it's connected to a Nokia Alcatel-Lucent ONT, which in turn is connected to an Actiontec T3200 to provide internet and Optik TV to the house.
In response to SmilinVamp. Options. August - last edited August. That Alcatel-Lucent box is an ONT. The ONT is NOT a router or switch. All it does is convert fibre to copper and only ONE port on it will be active. You should be connecting your devices to the router that Telus would have provided and not the ONT itself.

I have buried conduit and can run Cat6/Coaxial from the detached building to the house to terminate at the ONT (Alcatel-Lucent) or the existing router location.
