In one of the earliest Inspector Gadget episodes, entitled "Ghost Catchers," the book from Penny’s computer class seems to suggest that all of her Uncle Gadget's best Inspector Gadget tools are out of date.

Personally, for me, a Tamagotchi series by DiC would likely be a sequel series to Video Adventures due to that era of Tamagotchi being the vintage era for USA audiences. I also would personally see most of the Video Adventures VAs making a comeback to voice the characters as well.
