3 days ago · the silmarillion was basically a compendium of the lore and histories that the characters in the actual lord of the rings story would reference and be built upon. it was a way for tolkien to have 'history' for the world he built to tell the story of lord of the rings. it was never really meant to become its own book but only did so due to the insane popularity and demand by the fanbase.
6 days ago · This ‘trailer’ is just the tip of the iceberg. As fan of Tolkien, I’m pretty much disgusted with what Amazon has done. I find their Rings of Power show to be insultingly bad. All the way around. Actually, the CGI isn’t horrible. I will say that. Side note: Tolkien’s Silmarillion must drive studio heads crazy.
