Germaine Franco is an American film composer, conductor, songwriter, arranger, record producer, and percussionist. She is the first woman to score a Disney animated feature film with ENCANTO (2021), for which she was nominated for a several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Original Score.
Looking back now, Franco says what she learned working on Encanto was resilience. "I had to just keep trying to be tenacious, just like Mirabel," she says. All of the work has paid off to the tune of three Oscar nominations for the film, recognized for Best Animated Feature Film, Best Original Song for Miranda's "Dos Oruguitas" and Best Original Score for Franco.
