Brigham Oil & Gas, L.P., the operating subsidiary of Brigham Exploration Company, was formed in Dallas in 1990 by Ben M. "Bud" Brigham. Brigham was a native of Midland who had earned a degree in geophysics from the University of Texas at Austin.
