  1. Sep 16, 2020 · Antonio Campos’ adaptation of Donald Ray Pollock’s “The Devil All the Time” is an ambitious, sprawling drama with so much rippling under its surface and so many characters to keep track of that it’s tempting to say it would have worked better as a mini-series. Some characters and themes get minimized more than they should because of ...

The film is based on a book of the same name by Donald Ray Pollock, whose voice is used to narrate the story. Robert Pattinson has been praised for his performance of an unholy preacher amed Preston Teagardin, and he is joined by a twisted couple (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough) who like to pick up hitchikers for bad reasons, and crooked sheriff (Se...

  4. I’ve read comments saying it wouldve worked better as a miniseries, which I agree with since it would’ve been able to introduce the characters better. That being said, the cast and performances were all great.

  5. Sep 23, 2020 · “The Devil All the Time” is filled with so much misfortune that it would’ve made better as a mini-series. There simply are too many things happening that it felt overwhelming at times. The director, Antonio Campos, could’ve elaborated even more on each character and their backstories if he was given more time to do so.

  7. Sep 18, 2020 · Some say that stories of this magnitude are better left for mini-series or multi-seasonal television shows. While there are some films that do a phenomenal job of encapsulating such an epoch in just a few hours, I have to agree that Devil All the Time is one that probably could have used at least a couple of episodes.
