Jun 11, 2002 · The Bourne Identity was scored by Media Ventures protege John Powell, who first achieved notoriety for the score to John Woo's Face/Off. In The Bourne Identity, as in most of his action scores, Powell follows the modern trend of using techno-influenced beats and synthesized percussion.
The score for The Bourne Identity was composed by John Powell. Powell was brought in to replace Carter Burwell , who had composed and recorded a more traditional orchestral score for the film, which director Doug Liman rejected.
In 2002 Powell was hired to score The Bourne Identity for director Doug Liman after Carter Burwell left the project. He also returned to score the series' other two films, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum , under British director Paul Greengrass .
In stepped John Powell, who was not only a Liman fan but was himself searching for a good opportunity in the action genre at that point in his career. Ultimately, The Bourne Identity opened the doors to a franchise of work for Powell that would yield superior sequel scores.
