   • Melnyk purchased the club and the rink out of bankruptcy in 2003 for $92 million. He was the only party interested that wanted to keep the team in Ottawa after former owner Rod Bryden declared bankruptcy in Jan., 2003. Bryden took over the club from Senators’ founder Bruce Firestone after the club’s first season in the league in 1992-93.
