Lunella Louise Lafayette, known as Moon Girl, is the protagonist of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. A gifted young girl, Lunella protects the Lower East Side community as a gadget-wielding superhero known as Moon Girl with her partner, Devil Dinosaur.
Lunella Lafayette is a 13-year-old genius living with her parents and grandparents in the Lower East Side of New York City. One day, she activates a portal and a red Tyrannosaurus steps out of it. With the support of her friend Casey, she becomes a superhero named Moon Girl and names the dinosaur "Devil Dinosaur".
Just then something triggered within Moon Girl and her body was suddenly inhabited by the consciousness of Devil Dinosaur, who was confused by being unexpectedly thrust into a confrontation with Marvin; meanwhile, in her secret lab, Lunella found her mind trapped within the body of Devil Dinosaur.
