- Doune Castle, Scotland. Doune Castle was used as the filming location for Castle Leoch, the home of Clan MacKenzie. Fans are first introduced to the castle when Claire and Frank visit the ruins in the very first episode of the series.
- Falkland, Scotland. At the beginning of the series, we see Claire and Frank make their way to Inverness for their second honeymoon (as Frank calls it).
