A park in two sections separated by River Soar. You can find the ruins of an abbey and a cafe in one section. Cross a pretty bridge to walk around a ‘Japanese’ garden with pagoda and red bridges. At the moment lights up of reindeer and structures.

Went to see the abbey ruins and discovered a slab to honour Cardinal Wolsey who may or may not have been buried in Leicester as well as Cavendish House ruins, pet area, miniature train, a beautiful bridge over the River Soar, Grand Union Canal and an amazing array of bird life plus the occasional squirrels making out it was already spring.
Feb 20, 2024 · Abbey Park is the biggest and main park in Leicester. It is located just a short drive north of the city centre. The park originally opened in 1882 and has a range of activities across its 36 hectares. The park includes the archaeological ruins of the Abbey of St Mary’s and the ruins of Cavendish House.
