Simon Langton Grammar School for Boys (also known as The Langton Grammar School for Boys and simply referred to as The Langton) is an 11–18 foundation grammar school for boys and mixed sixth form in Canterbury, Kent, England. It was established in 1881.
Our History. Mr Senechal, Senior Assistant Headteacher and teacher of history has compiled a detailed and very interesting 'history of the school'. Seven documents have been produced which can be read in chronological order. Part I: 1248 – 1881. Part II: 1881 – 1889. Part III: 1899 – 1922. Part IV: 1922 – 1929.

May 13, 2024 · Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School is a single-sex voluntary controlled grammar school in Canterbury, Kent, England. The school originated in the Middle Ages as an educational foundation for children in Canterbury, emerging as a separate school for girls in 1881.
Commemoration Services had their origin in 1911, when Dean Wace welcomed both Langton Girls’ and Boys’ schools for the first time and when the girls donned white dresses and wore sprigs of ivy. In 1917, Miss Proudfoot introduced the first Prefect System – a first step in self-government on the eve of women’s suffrage.
We are a school community of nearly 1000 students and staff set in the Kent countryside on the outskirts of the medieval city of Canterbury. We enjoy a high reputation locally and nationally as a school with an enviable academic record consequent upon inspirational teaching and top quality
We believe in a learning model whereby teachers and students engage in authentic, open ended academic research in the sciences and humanities searching for answers to questions that, currently, none of them know.
