Chelsea Football Club Women, formerly known as Chelsea Ladies Football Club, are an English women's football club based in Kingston upon Thames, London. Founded in 1992, they compete in the Women's Super League, the top flight of women's football in England, and play their home games at the Kingsmeadow with some select games at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea Women is a fully integrated female club with performance-based and developmental objectives. Originally called Chelsea Ladies Football Club, it was re-established in 1992 following an earlier incarnation in the 1970s, and has been fully affiliated with Chelsea Football Club since 2005.
After eight years of existence, Chelsea Ladies in 1999/00 left the local leagues and moved to a regional one, which now fed directly into the top national league. It was a season of unprecedented success as the team retained the County Cup, won their League Cup and their league title.
