The Royal Academy of Music (RAM) [3][4] in London, England, is one of the oldest music schools in the UK, founded in 1822 [5] by John Fane and Nicolas-Charles Bochsa. It received its royal charter in 1830 from King George IV with the support of the first Duke of Wellington. [4]

Founded in 1822, the Royal Academy of Music is the UK’s longest-standing conservatoire and the second oldest in the world. For 200 years, the Academy has been at the forefront of musical performance and education.
In 1999 the Academy became the only music conservatoire to be admitted as a full member of the University of London (UoL), one of the largest, most diverse universities in the UK. Across its 17 member institutions, UoL has more than 120,000 students in London.
In 1904, the school was amalgamated with two other London music institutions that had sprung up since the academy was founded, namely the London Music School (founded 1865) and the Forest Gate School of Music (founded 1885) renamed in 1906 the Metropolitan Academy of Music.
