    • You Are More Than Your Mistakes. Along the same vein of the past is in the past, many of us struggle to forgive ourselves for mistakes we have made. From society to academia, we are taught at a young age that mistakes are bad.
    • Solutions Are Hard to See When Depressed. Depression is a silent killer. This disorder takes many lives by way of suicide each year. A provisional estimate by the CDC in 2022 indicated over 49,000 people died by suicide in 2022, the rate rising 2.6% from 2021.
    • Treatment Can Make You Feel Better. Therapy for depression and medication management can make all the difference when you begin to wonder what your reason to live is anymore.
    • Life is always moving forward and changing. When you experience such immense suffering and feel like you can’t go on, it feels like the whole world is collapsing in on you.
    • Your reason to live depends entirely on you. It might not seem like it right now, but the purpose of your life didn’t depend on that person, career, or thing.
    • You don’t have to “find” your purpose in life. Too often I have seen people become lost in their search for their one true purpose. They try dozens of careers, hundreds of potential partners, only to end up disappointed and frustrated every time because it didn’t “feel” like it was what they were born to do or be with.
    • The most challenging moments are the ones that define us. I wouldn’t wish tragedy upon anyone. But the reality is this: The most tragic moments in our life are the ones that define us the most.
    • Milestones. Milestones bring change and sometimes challenge, but they can also result in a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Milestones can be as life-altering as coming out or becoming a parent.
    • The unexplored. What stones have you left unturned? If you’re a curious person, wanting to know more about what’s “out there” may be a reason to keep going.
    • Your undiscovered potential. Are you curious about who you could be? No one knows the future, but life brings the constant opportunity to discover your true potential as a person, artist, parent, athlete, or activist.
    • The chance to leave your mark. If you’re not yet at the point in life where you feel you’ve crafted your legacy, there’s still time to do just that. What do you hope to be remembered for someday?
