Professional critics gave the episode a more muted, but overall positive, reception. Nick Wanserski of the AV Club enjoyed the episode. The Orville was renewed for a second season in November of 2017. Unlike Season 1, which aired in the fall, Season 2 aired mid-season over the winter and early spring. Season 2 is followed chronologically by Season 2.5 and on television by Season 3.
