Oct 13, 2022 · The only reliable place to detect `%CLINK_NOAUTORUN%` is inside the Clink executable code itself. But that incurs the performance hit of launching Clink, which can be noticable when spawning a large number of CMD processes rapidly.
When autorun is configured, then the best that Clink can do is respond to CLINK_NOAUTORUN, or to launch clink_x64.exe and at least avoid the DLL injection and hooking system APIs inside CMD. Another way is to ignore child calls to clink.exe and keep run from intercepted CreateProcess from inside the cmd.exe .

May 2, 2018 · When you install Clink, it adds itself to the shell's autorun registry entry. The way it does this is by registering the .bat file used to run it. This way, every time you start a new shell, this file is run.
If you use autorun, then you're right that setting CLINK_NOAUTORUN and then starting a nested cmd.exe gets you a CMD without Clink. I don't know whether that would meet the original poster's needs, but the original poster specifically wanted a way to evict Clink.
