According to the United States Census Bureau, South Haven has a total area of 9 square km, of which 8.8 square km is land, and 0.26 square km is water. The biggest part of the city is situated in Van Buren County, and the other smaller portion extends into Allegan County.
- South Haven Lighthouse. Also known as South Pier Head Light, this historic structure is a must-see in South Haven. It was built in 1872 and is still operational today.
